World Wide Web Consortium. An international consortium of companies involved with the Internet and the Web, founded in 1994 by Tim Berners-Lee. The organization's purpose is to develop open standards so that the Web evolves in a single direction rather than being splintered among competing factions. The W3C is the chief standards body for HTTP and HTML.

A host computer that is connected to the Internet and provides you with space where your web site is stored.
Webmaster
The person responsible for the administration of a web site.

Software for the creation and editing of documents that are principally text based. Responsible for the demise of the Typewriter.
